If you have a new MacBook Pro, they come with a 720p FaceTime HD camera. This camera provides a good quality picture when there is good lighting. From the photo you provided, this is a low-light situation. You'll see a difference in the photo from your MacBook Pro compared to a photo taken with a new iPhone XS and XS Max which have a 12MP camera on the rear and a 7MP camera on the front.
